Introducing the Our Story Together Series
Introductory Series Post #12.0 — The final post in this Intro Series
Welcome to the final post in the Introductory Series! I hope it has proven helpful to you.
As I came closer to launching this Substack I was telling folks that a key reason why I was finally ready was because I now had my “narrative arch.”
What’s that?
Simply put: it’s the outline of the story I am telling. The story of us together choosing to create a better world. The greatest story of human freedom in our time.
Before I began sharing my message with all of you I needed to have a sense of what this was, is, and will be.
In previous posts I’ve already shared our story in fragments. I’ve also done so succinctly in our Vision, Purpose, and Major Goal which concerns the present and future: to overcome climate change by creating a just and prosperous sustainability that enhances wellbeing for everyone and everything.
But our story involves not just the present and future. It includes the past as well. There are lessons and hope from our past to help guide and encourage us.
As I begin my reflections on past efforts, I will use the US as a case study, because, frankly, it is the history and context I know best. It is part of our story together. But it is in no way the whole picture. I look forward to learning and telling other stories!
Much of our story involves choosing to do the three actions of justice: stop bad stuff, set wrong right, and make things better. And yet our story together is even bigger and more glorious than this. It is the story of all of our values come to life: love, justice, beauty, freedom, creativity, wisdom, pragmatism, non-violence, sustainability, and success. When we choose to embody our values we live in and live out our story together, we become who we were meant to be, we become our destiny.
As time goes by this narrative will become its mature self as we move forward into our future together. We are writing our own story; we are creating our own future.
Finally, we all need to recognize that telling our story in ways that reach the widest possible audience is essential to achieving our vision, purpose, and Major Goal. We must become big enough and active enough that we cannot be suppressed, missed, or ignored.
Our story, the overcoming climate change story, is part of every post on this Climate Hope Together Substack.
But I will also have many posts dedicated to telling this story, our story, more completely. These will be found in the Our Story Together Series.
So stay tuned — and join us!
