Creativity — really? Is creativity a value?
Let’s look at our defining characteristics of a value — they inspire, guide, and are valuable to us.
Do we need creativity? Yes. Do we therefore value it because we need it? Yes. Does it inspire us to action? Yes. Does the search for creativity guide us? Yes. Well then, it meets our three-part criteria for a value.
Are we going to need creativity to overcome climate change while creating a just and prosperous sustainability that enhances wellbeing for everyone and everything?
Duh.
Are we going to need creativity to become the greatest and most long-lasting social change movement in the history of the world?
More duh.
Are we going to need creativity to use ARTC strategically?
Even more duh.
Are we going to need creativity to have Governments-and-Markets play their role?
And even more duh.
Are we going to need creativity to make our future come faster and our world more beautiful?
More duh once again.
We need creativity. We need to be inspired and guided by creativity. We need creativity to be combined with all of our other Movement Values. When combined with freedom creativity can produce what I call organic change.
We must do everything we can to be creative and support creativity in others, to rediscover and reclaim our uninhibited natural childlike desire to create. In overcoming climate change at the speed and scale necessary creativity is indispensable. Its value is inestimable. When we see the birth of creativity, when we see creativity turning our vision into reality, we cannot help but be inspired to action. Creativity helps us make hope happen, turning vision-hope into action-hope as we make our future come faster. Join us!
